Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

Ripe operates entirely on your device. We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to our servers. There is no user account, no analytics, and no tracking.

The app requests the following device permissions, all of which are optional and require your explicit consent:

• Location (approximate): Used solely to fetch weather data for the home screen weather widget. Your coordinates are sent to Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com), a third-party weather API, to retrieve current conditions. We do not store or log your location.
• Calendar (read-only): Used solely to display upcoming events on the home screen calendar widget. Calendar data is read locally and never leaves your device.
• Contacts (read-only): Used solely to display contact search results within the app. Contact data is read locally and never leaves your device.
• Phone state: Used solely to detect incoming calls for launcher behavior. Call data is never stored or transmitted.
• Make calls: Used solely to allow you to initiate phone calls directly from the launcher (e.g., tapping a contact). No calls are made without your action.
• Notifications: Used solely to display notification badge counts on app icons and to show notification indicators in the hub strip. Notification content is read locally and never leaves your device.
• Set wallpaper: Used solely to allow you to change your device wallpaper from within the launcher settings.
• Internet: Used solely to fetch weather data from the Open-Meteo API and to check for icon pack availability. No personal data is transmitted.

2. Third-Party Services

Ripe uses the following third-party services:

• Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com): Receives your approximate latitude and longitude to return weather data. Open-Meteo is a free, open-source weather API. Please refer to their privacy policy for how they handle location data.
• Google Play Services (Location): Used to obtain your device's approximate location for the weather widget. Google's privacy policy applies to their location services.

Ripe does not integrate any advertising networks, analytics platforms, crash reporting services, or social media SDKs.

3. Data Storage

All app preferences (home screen layout, folder arrangements, widget settings, icon customizations, tab configurations) are stored locally on your device using Android SharedPreferences. No data is stored on external servers.

Backup is disabled (android:allowBackup="false"). Your launcher data is not included in Android cloud backups.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, rent, or otherwise share any personal information with third parties. The only network requests the app makes are to the Open-Meteo weather API, which receives only approximate coordinates and no personally identifiable information.

5. Children's Privacy

Ripe does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13. Since the app collects no personal data at all, it is safe for users of all ages.

6. Security

Since Ripe does not collect or transmit personal data to any server, the risk of data breach is minimal. All data remains on your device under the protection of Android's built-in security model.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by updating the “Last Updated” date at the top of this document. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
